3 year project funded by the National Lottery Community fund
Our Risky Business Peer Mentoring project is funded by the Big Lottery Community Fund and provides disadvantaged and vulnerable young people aged 11 – 25 in Flintshire and Wrexham with a weekly programme of activities. The project helps young people to develop confidence, make a positive contribution to the community, become a peer mentor and feel better equipped to make decisions with regards to ‘risk taking’ behaviour.
The program has three stages; initially we focus on engagement and work on developing self-confidence, communication skills and team work. Secondly we work on developing leadership skills and provide an opportunity for the beneficiaries to become peer mentors, and the third stage is activities / workshops led by the peer mentors.
The Risky Business project helps empower young people to break the cycle of ‘need’ and homelessness. The beneficiaries take a lead in organising the timetable of activities based on their needs and interests and hold regular forum sessions where the group offer feedback and suggest ideas to have ownership of the project.
Peer mentor led activities
The Peer Mentors have ran many activities including sessions in fitness, cooking, substance misuse, healthy eating, beauty, games,
dance, pebble art, music and film reviews to name a few.
Peer Mentors in the Community
The peer mentors have organised Harry Potter events, positive postcards for the Community and recently a Dragon Door trail in
Broad Oaks woods Connahs Quay, and have more dragon door trails to display at Greenfield Valley and Flint Coastal path.
Prosiect 3 blynedd wedi’i ariannu gan Gronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol
Mae ein prosiect Mentora Cymheiriaid Busnes Peryglus yn cael ei ariannu gan Gronfa Gymunedol y
Loteri Genedlaethol ac mae'n darparu rhaglen wythnosol o weithgareddau i bobl ifanc difreintiedig a
bregus rhwng 11 a 25 oed yn Siroedd y Fflint a Wrecsam. Mae'r prosiect yn helpu pobl ifanc i
ddatblygu hyder, gwneud cyfraniad cadarnhaol i'r gymuned, dod yn fentor cyfoedion a theimlo
mewn sefyllfa well i wneud penderfyniadau mewn perthynas ag ymddygiad 'cymryd risg'.
Mae tri cham i'r rhaglen; i ddechrau rydym yn canolbwyntio ar ymgysylltu a gweithio ar ddatblygu
hunanhyder, sgiliau cyfathrebu a gwaith tîm. Yn ail, rydym yn gweithio ar ddatblygu sgiliau arwain ac
yn rhoi cyfle i'r buddiolwyr ddod yn fentoriaid cymheiriaid, a'r trydydd cam yw gweithgareddau /
gweithdai dan arweiniad y mentoriaid cymheiriaid.
Mae'r prosiect Busnes Peryglus yn helpu i rymuso pobl ifanc i dorri'r cylch 'angen' a digartrefedd.
Mae'r buddiolwyr yn arwain y gwaith o drefnu amserlen o weithgareddau yn seiliedig ar eu
hanghenion a'u diddordebau ac yn cynnal sesiynau fforwm rheolaidd lle mae'r grŵp yn cynnig
adborth ac yn awgrymu syniadau i gymryd perchenogaeth ar y prosiect.
Gweithgareddau dan arweiniad mentor
Mae'r Mentoriaid Cymheiriaid wedi cynnal llawer o weithgareddau gan gynnwys sesiynau ffitrwydd,
coginio, camddefnyddio sylweddau, bwyta'n iach, harddwch, gemau, dawns, celf cerrig mân,
cerddoriaeth ac adolygiadau ffilm a llawer mwy.
Mentoriaid Cymheiriaid yn y Gymuned
Mae'r mentoriaid cymheiriaid wedi trefnu digwyddiadau Harry Potter, cardiau post cadarnhaol i'r
Gymuned ac yn ddiweddar llwybr Drws y Ddraig yng nghoedwig Broad Oak Cei Connah, ac mae
ganddynt fwy o lwybrau Drws y Ddraig i'w dangos yn Nyffryn Maes Glas ac ar Lwybr yr Arfordir yn Fflint.
